Requirements

We are recruiting for a Consultant who can demonstrate the following experience, skills and characteristics:  

  • 12 – 18 months’ experience providing communications, media relations and/or public affairs advice and support. (Ideally including some experience within a consultancy or agency environment.)
  • Understanding of UK and EU political and regulatory systems, and experience providing monitoring services including summarising information concisely and identifying the most relevant pieces of insight.
  • Detailed understanding of the UK media landscape and ability to build strong relationships with journalists to secure press coverage, including in financial trades and national outlets.
  • Excellent writing skills, including experience producing op-eds and thought leadership reports and comment pieces.
  • Strong research skills, including qualitative analysis.
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills, confident speaking in group situations.
  • Able to prioritise effectively and deliver on multiple projects at once.
  • Experience using AI platforms to increase efficiency, creativity and quality.
  • Passion and proactivity, eager to find solutions to challenges and suggest new approaches.
 

About the role

The core Consultant responsibilities include:

  • Conducting monitoring and horizon scanning and providing advice for clients on appropriate responses.
  • Drafting and successfully pitching a wide range of media materials including press releases, statements and thought leadership articles.
  • Gathering and analysing quantitative and qualitative data to identify relevant trends.
  • Building strong relationships with clients, journalists, politicians and other stakeholders.
  • Liaising with MPs and their offices to secure engagement in client campaigns and drafting related policy briefings.
  • Confidently advising clients on how they can use social media channels to broaden engagement.
  • Helping organise events, including liaising with venues, compiling invitee lists and invitations and managing attendees.
  • Contributing to Luther’s new business and marketing activities.

 

The salary band for this role is £30,250 – £33,000 depending on experience and capability.

Additional benefits include: discretionary annual bonus, new business and recruitment incentive schemes, additional annual leave for length of service, private medical insurance, interest-free travel and clothing loans, and cycle to work support.

We operate a hybrid model of working with the expectation that consultants will be in our central London office at least three to four days a week, depending on meetings and other client requirements.
