Mike is a leading international practitioner and trainer in risk and crisis management, communication strategy and news handling.

He brings unique high-level experience as the former Director-General of the Government Information and Communication Service, and former founding Head of the Cabinet Office Civil Contingencies Secretariat.
 
During 25 years in Government service, he also held the top communication posts in the Home Office, the Environment and Energy departments, and the Metropolitan Police Service. As such, he was press secretary to five Cabinet Ministers (Tory and Labour) and the Metropolitan Police Commissioner.

Mike is  a Senior  Fellow at the Defence Academy of the UK and a frequent commentator on TV and radio  on terrorism and civil emergencies.
