British Society of Gastroenterology

With over 3,000 members the British Society of Gastroenterology had an established presence in the trade press but was keen to raise its profile in the national media. As part of an ongoing PR campaign, Quintus Communications, now part of Luther Pendragon, commissioned YouGov research into consumers’ attitudes towards alcohol and obesity. The questions were designed to correspond with ongoing public affairs activity Quintus was also conducting on the society’s behalf, eliciting public opinion on the current policy debate around the health impacts of alcohol and obesity. The research results were released to coincide with Alcohol Awareness Week and National Obesity Week.
The research was used to develop a variety of press releases, with exclusives given to priority journalists. In total 44 pieces of coverage were achieved, reaching over 99 million people. Coverage highlights included The Observer, The Mirror, The Daily Telegraph, The Scotsman and BBC London 94.9.
