Earlier this year we welcomed Poppy Trowbridge, Consumer Affairs Correspondent for Sky News, to our offices as part of our Luther Network series of events.

Poppy started the discussion by talking about the changing face of journalism and offered some reflections on the huge shift from traditional journalism to “social media journalism”, highlighting that the way people access and consume news is now faster and more personalised. Particularly interesting were Poppy’s thoughts on how the content in traditional journalism may be right but that the medium doesn’t appeal to the way most people under the age of 35 choose to consume the news. Poppy also offered some reflections on investment in social media news platforms at Sky.

The session concluded with a good discussion from those around the table representing a broad range of sectors on the way the changing news cycle has affected the way they do business, and how this will continue to change the way in which news is gathered and produced in the future.

Our huge thanks to Poppy and our guests for joining us.
